Breast Reduction
Is a procedure that decreases the size of the breasts. Most breast reduction patients have suffered a life of awkwardly large, prominent breasts and subsequent back and shoulder problems. The results leave the patient with more appropriately proportioned, and firmer, breasts. It is not uncommon to perform this procedure in conjunction wih a breast lift or liposuction for more satisfying results.

Procedure:
Your surgeon will remove excess fat, tissue, and skin from inside and around the breasts. Breast reduction surgery may take several hours to complete. Talk to your insurance company and your doctor about your coverage options.

Recovery:
Rest is required for a few days following surgery, and for several weeks, you'll wear a doctor-issued support bra. Work and other medium-stress activities can usually be resumed about two weeks after surgery. Anything more phycially straining should be avoided for 3-4 weeks after surgery.

Risks:
There are always potential risks associated with any surgical procedure, but rather than fear them, it's smartest and safest to be aware of them. Be sure to discuss any risks with your doctor at your consultation. For several weeks to a few months, you can expect some discomfort, dry skin, and shooting pains from breast reduction surgery. There is also a chance of losing nipple sensation. This is usually temporary, though sometimes permanent.
